Citrus perfumes: fruity energy
Perfume does not live by flowers alone. Fruit is also an important component in cologne, eau de toilette and eau de perfumes. Among all fruity notes, the freshest and lighter are citrus: bergamot, orange, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, … the olfactory family. These citrus essences provide a sparkling touch, energizing and quite pleasant.
The essential citrus oils are sometimes extracted from fruit peel like lemon, whose oil has disinfectant, deodorizer and astringent properties like the orange skin peel (bitter or sweet). Tangerine skin essence is sweeter but also citrus.
Grapefruit is also used as a fruity ingredient for perfumes although its use is more recent than the rest of citrus fruits.
Bergamot is the most unknown citrus and at the same time, mostly used in perfumes and fragrances. Sweet taste, pear-shaped, receives that name because it is produced in Bergamo, Italy.
Lime, natural lemon variety is commoner in masculine fresh fragrances and colognes due to its refreshing character and anti-perspirant protection.
Citrus in perfumes have the property to provide the energy and vitality to whoever uses them.
The citrus fragrances are used to relate with the warmest seasons (Spring-Summer) although due to its lightness and freshness, are suitable to be used all day long.
