“To be beautiful is the birthright of every woman”
Florence Nightingale Graham, real name for Elizabeth Arden. She was originally from Canada but moved to NY in 1908 to obtain a foothold in the beauty market and she made it. Two years later, she opened her first Beauty salon in the 5th Ave: the famous Red Door Salon. This one, as the next ones, followed the concept of feminine beauty in a unique and luxurious environment, where all kinds of beauty treatments were made.
Innovation was always in demand for Elizabeth Arden. In 1917 she launched the first travel-size products. She was the first in the beauty world to train a team and count on a staff of demo girls and saleswomen.

Over time the Eight Hour Cream became a multipurpose cosmetic which neither lost effectiveness nor fans.
As for makeup, she launched her first lipstick collection (thought to match clothing instead of hair color) and later on, eye masks and shadows, blusher and loose powder. Ms. Arden also promoted red lips as a symbol of woman independence.
Miss Arden expanded her beauty Empire in 1935, with the launch of a new perfume: Blue Grass. In 1989, Red Door & Green Tea were launched, together with the anti-aging treatment line Ceramide. One year later, the first one-dose tablets for skin care were launched, Ceramide Advanced Time Complex Capsules. In 1996, her most famous fragrance was born: Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue perfume.
