“Fame”, Lady Gaga’s first Perfume: The dark side of fame in a bottle
Famous pop stars give themselves up to the perfume world. A short time ago, we presented Truth or Dare, Madonna’s first perfume, now it is the turn for controversial Lady Gaga with Fame, her first and unique perfume, which liquid is purely black.
As the singer herself, this fragrance has been accompanied by controversy and provocation from the very beginning. Some time ago, Lady Gaga said that the fragrance would smell as “blood and semen”, a fact which luckily, was not true.
Created by perfumers Richard Herpin, Honorine Blanc and Nathalie Lorson, Fame is a floral oriental fragrance, which stands out for its sweet and peculiar composition. As top notes, apricot and saffron. In the heart, Belladonna tears, jasmine and orchid. As background, honey and incense. The perfume was created around three concepts: darkness, sensuality and light. The dark component is provided by the Belladonna, the sensuality by the sweet honey, saffron and apricot nectar and the light by orchids and jasmine flowers
With this woman’s fragrance, whose name (Fame) matches one of her albums, Lady Gaga “pays tribute to all aspects of fame, its transparent facets and its darker side”, according to what the singer said. That is why the liquid is black, being the first in perfumes’ history. But do not be scared: your skin or clothing will not be “tainted by fame”: that dark liquid becomes transparent once sprayed thanks to the “Black-to-clear” technology fluid innovation.
The bottle resembles an ancient and precious beauty elixir: cylindrical and transparent (only the liquid is black), topped with a golden cap inspired by “monster” claws. We can say that Fame has earned a privileged position in the ranking of original perfumes.
The perfume spot was photographed and directed by Steven Klein, the video clip creator of “Alejandro” where the diva Gaga appears surrounded by men. Latex, bizarre, mystery, darkness and desire. “We will make the most epic campaign of all times and we do not care if it can be printed or on TV shows”,said Gaga. Too much? A penny for your thoughts?
Fame is will be on sale from September, 2012. As announced by the star herself, the fragrance will have two versions: a more affordable and another more elaborate and exclusive “Le Masterpiece”, a larger eau de parfum with metal cap.
The brand will be presented as Eau de Parfum (30 and 50 ml.), shower gel (200 ml.), body lotion and soap (142 gr).
