How important is it to exfoliate the skin?
Your skin works hard to protect your body from the elements. Skin helps regulate your temperature, it’s waterproof, it keeps microorganisms out and it keeps your delicate insides safe. Our amazing skin also constantly repairs and renews itself, and sheds the dead cells it no longer needs in the process. To keep our skin working well and looking its best, we need to help nature along a little, and exfoliation is a simple way to do this.
What is exfoliation?
Exfoliation is the gentle removing of dead skins cells from the service of the skin. Doing this helps your skin to look smoother, more youthful and clearer. Using a facial scrub will help unblock pores and even out skin tones on your face. It will also help with dry patches, dull complexions and fine lines. Using a body scrub will soften rough patches on thighs, arms, knees and elbows and will help with the absorption of moisturisers.
How often should I exfoliate?
You should make time to exfoliate your skin twice a week. For more sensitive skin, once every 7 days is sufficient. Make it part of your regular skin care regime and see your body glow. If you are having a spray tan, or using self-tanning products at home, a full body exfoliation is a must to get the best results. Take the time to remove the dead skin cells from every part of your body and the tan will be more natural and even because the skin can absorb the product more easily.
What facial scrub or body scrub should I use?
The product should be the correct one for the job; don’t use body scrub on the face for example. Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliation by Clinique is easy to use – simply massage it onto wet skin in the shower and then rinse off. Skeyndor have a selection of great exfoliators in their skin care range, such as Essential Exfoliating Scrub. When using a facial scrub, be careful to avoid the delicate area around the eyes. The skin here is too sensitive for exfoliation.
