Retrosexual: the new ideal of masculine beauty
Who says that mature men do not take care of themselves? Society is changing along with the beauty trends. Men are becoming more concerned about their appearance, while a new category is born: the retrosexual. George Clooney, Hugh Laurie (House), Javier Bardem are clear examples of this XXI century man. Fifty year-olds, mature, masculine who take care of their bodies and know how to enjoy life. They use cosmetics, perfumes, implement beauty tips and tricks the same than women … In short, they are more aware of the importance of taking care ofthemselves at a certain age and like having a good appearance.
The retrosexual prototype is not necessarily a handsome man, but the man kind, very strong. He may be heterosexual, married or single, monogamous, faithful, does not give too much importance to his appearance (as the metrosexual) but takes care of himself and has a good appearance without losing his masculinity. It would be the equivalent of what has always been known as an “interesting” man. A mature, experienced man, who knows what he wants, even in appearance, just wants what can work out. A man who wants to look and act like a man, without any extremes.
Although they know what they want, do not hide that they take care of themselves and do not need a woman to tell them what to buy or wear. 40% of cosmetics purchases for men are made by women. Perhaps they still lack a bit of experience on the subject …
Luckily for them, there are brands of men beauty products as Aramis Lab Series, Boss Skin or the range of Biotherm, Collistar, Clinique or Shiseido, among others which help them feel attractive and “interesting” at the heigth of their maturity. And we would like to help making it easier to buy cosmetics online.
Do you know any retrosexual? D’you like this new profile? Are you any of them or would you like to be?
We’d love to hear your point of view.
