Tips to care about your skin and hair in Winter
Each season has its own features: weather, temperature,… and all this, of course, is shown on the skin. In winter, the skin is exposed to cold and wind, two agents that cause the appearance of the dry skin syndrome. Sudden changes in temperature or “thermal shock” (from 12º to 30º C) can affect the skin, weakening , making it loose smoothness. In some cases, it may cause flaking, itching and redness.
In spite of having a higher risk of damage, you may look a healthy skin in winter by following some of the beauty tips below.
Facing low temperatures, facial skin needs nutrition. It is important to apply a good nourishing daily cream to “feed” our skin with all active ingredients and substances that it needs to bear the cold it is exposed to. Day creams are suitable to protect the skin from weather conditions and night creams focus on nourishing the skin after daily exposure and fight against ageing signs.
The eyes are also a delicate part of the face, something we need to consider when protecting ourselves from Winter cold. The skin around the eyes is particularly delicate, so be extremely careful in this area, applying an eye contour to reactivate circulation, protect, moisturize and control the wrinkles that may appear, either by age, expression features or facial skin dryness.
Skin from lips also suffers the consequences of low temperatures. To prevent lips from drying out, keep them hydrated, applying lipstick with moisturizing ingredients and always carrying lip balm with sunscreen protection to regenerate and protect the delicate skin of the lips from cold and wind.
The rest of the body is free of worries. Hands are constantly exposed to cold and need care because they dry out too much. Apply a good moisturizing hand cream to protect and repair your hands, so you can show them off in winter.
Other parts of the body likely to become dry at this time of the year are elbows, chest or neck, which can be protected hydrating and protecting those skin areas applying moisturizing creams, body lotions and body creams on a daily basis.
Even the hair undergoes quick temperature changes and needs special hair care against cold. Changing from cool weather (outdoors) to a warm atmosphere (indoors), hair roots suffer from the thermal change, helping the appearance of grease or dryness, depending on the scalp. The air, as well as the skin, also gets dehydrated under these circumstances becoming dry and fragile and then dandruff appears due to the scalp dehydration, among other symptoms caused by low temperatures. Applying moisturizing and nourishing hair products can also help control and improve its appearance.
Now you know: if you want your skin to feel protected during the whole year no matter what season we are in, the magic words are: HYDRATION & NUTRITION.
